NEW SPRING TURKEY/ BROOK TROUT COMBO!

Steady Point Upland Guide Service is a full service guide service, for the hunter who wishes to challenge the Prince of the Uplands, the Ruffed Grouse, on his turf like a gentleman.

New for 2011 we will be offering Spring Turkey Hunts in the same woodlands that we pursue all matter of upland game. We also offer a half day hunt and half day guided trout trip in the OUTBACK.

When guiding fisherman in the Outback, we will transport you miles back in state lands to streams that are seemingly untouched by fisherman, Except me! You will have the chance to stretch you line against some of Pa's Native Brook Trout. Be your tackle fly rod or light spinning, you'll have a BLAST!

If you never hunted the Eastern Wild Turkey, this is a great beginner Hunt as we can even provide you with a "No Frills" Turkey gun that many a bird has fallen to!!!! If you have developed a knack for calling, you are more than welcome to bring your calls, as we can set up, to imitate an entire flock. This technique has worked for me in the past and I'm sure it will continue to bring birds to bag.

We give you 110 % on every hunt and to finally put your hands on a true Mountain Trophy is tough to earn but well worth the hard work. Give us a call!

What's in a Name?

Places like the "Mines", Bellis Brook, "The Sweet Spot", "Slashins" and the list goes on and on. Names given by me, friends or an unknown author. Names that hold dear spots and memories that can't be taken away. Names of spots that have had special times, firsts, lasts and hopeful times.

"The Sweet Spot" where I took my first double on grouse. Where my son's learned how to handle dogs in the coverts. Where Briar took her first grouse. Where I shot my first woodcock. Where I spent so many fall mornings and afternoons with Cousin John. Where I would take Dad, so he could get some shooting in, cause he legs don't work so well anymore. Bellis Brook, where as a young man, I hiked 4 miles back to find a secret fishing spot, which I did. Where I spent the opening day of trout season, catching a never ending stream of Native Brook Trout. Where I've come across some big Tom Turkeys, tricked by some old bucks and hung with my big brother, way back! All these things in a simple name come rushing back.

Lets see? The "Mines"! Where I shot my first turkey with the expert calling of my good friend Lew. A cool May morning. A hike way back in the mines. Set up high above the turkeys. Light yelping and the woods erupted with a gobble that would shake your insides. Moments later a fat Jake decided that he wanted to see what was making all the noise. I ended his inquisitiveness for good with a 2 oz load of #5's. "The Intersection". Where I took my largest bird to date, with Cousin John. A 10 inch 18 lb, 3/4 spur Eastern that we called in from about 200 yards away, with some tag team callin. A feet for any turkey caller. What made it so special was that it was the last week of the season. We were 4 miles back and the woods were sounding with the rumble of a Boss Tom. Another memory that will never go anywhere.

You ask, "What's in a name?" I say Everything is in the Name. Think about that!
