Well, the spring is coming! I sit here bound to the "Homestead" because of gail force winds and tor ant rains. My newest project is a large Pigeon pen for the training of the Steady Point Pointers. I reached out on HuntingPA and The Buck Barn for folks that were interested in purchasing some birds and WOW what a response. I think I need a bigger pen.
Pigeons are one of the best birds to work young dogs on. They aren't much work on the maintenance side and you can put them to sleep quite easily. Another plus is that pigeons are really cheap, especially if you know how to catch them. But still to this day, I've found bird dog trainers that will pay good money for the birds and every penny counts when you have a kennel full of pointing dogs.
As soon as I get some photos of my finished pen, I'll post them. To all good hunting and bring on Turkey Season.
